What Christmas Really Means

By: Sara Mcintosh

Christmas is right around the corner and will be here in no time. Boys and girls everywhere are ready for all the gifts and sweets. When we are little we only care about the gifts we get and as we get older we start to realize what Christmas is really about.

Christmas day was when Jesus was born. Christmas is used to celebrate his birthday and that’s why we get gifts. When Jesus was born the three Wiseman brought gifts to Jesus and that’s what the gifts we get stand for. Christmas is about sharing and caring. You are to give to those less fortunate than you just to be kind not to expect something in return.  You should always spend Christmas with the people you are close to.

Christmas is not about being selfish and snobby. Have fun and spend some time with those close to you. It is the season to care and share.

Here is what some students said Christmas means:

Kody Dismoore said, “I think Christmas is a time for family to get together and be happy. I believe it is a great thing to celebrate. I believe that there is more happiness on Christmas than any other holiday or day of the year.”

Chelsea Coulstin said, “I think Christmas has turned into a stupid, pointless, selfish holiday. It’s supposed to be about family and happiness, but kids today only care about presents.”

Paige Taylor says, “I think Christmas is a time to have fun and spend time with your friends and family. It’s also a time to be happy and joyful.”
