Would it Kill You? Album Review

By: Becca Atwood

The band Hellogoodbye released the album Would It Kill You? On November 9, 2010. The album did not capture much of an audience, but that might be starting to change.

Hellogoodbye is a pop punk band from the roots of Huntington Beach, California, that was formed in 2001. In 2006, they released their first full-length album Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! It has the popular single Here (In Your Arms). Their new album wasn’t able to match its predecessor in popularity.

Would It Kill You? has a different sound than the first album. It is more of a coffee house love tune sound. Their lyrics are less mythical and more realistic. Their newest album is very familiar to listeners of Panic at the Disco’s album Pretty Odd.

The first couple tracks are about love and fuzzy feelings in your tummy. My favorite song in this album is Getting Old. It has a wonderful instrumental introduction and the vocals are soft. It reminds me of 1960’s music in London. It is relaxing and soothing, but still has an upwards beat.

If you are into new music that has an aged sound, then this album is for you. Hellogoodbye will be playing at Warped Tour this year, so if you like this album, then go to Warped Tour to see them!
