Laken Keltner will be this year’s new swimming coach for Salem High School. “It feels great to be back,” said Keltner
Keltner is not new to Salem High School. She swam for the team herself. Keltner still holds the best time for breast stroke. “I plan to push swimmers to beat record times and their own,” she said.
Keltner hopes to have a lot of participants this year. Only five to six people show up every day pre-season practice. Keltner doesn’t know yet what to expect from her team. A lot of the participants expect a good coach.
“I hope Laken will do her best to teach me all the strokes, “ said Sophomore Katlen Coomer. Coomer is the one of Keltner’s swimmers. She started out last year only doing freestyle.
Actual swimming season doesn’t start until Oct. 24. It will end around February. Pre-season practice has already started; it’s every day at 3:30 until 5:00. If you’re interested, you must have a physical on file to participate.
